Getting started
Install the app, connect a mailbox, tell Counsel about your work, and send your first reply.
Counsel OS Local is an email app for Windows 10 and 11 that runs on your own PC. It sorts and summarizes your mail and drafts replies in your style. You review everything, and nothing is sent until you press Send.
Quick start
- Get the installer from Teras AI. Counsel OS Local is in private beta. Write to contact@terasai.dev to join.
- Install it on Windows. Run the installer. If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, click More info, check that the app is Counsel OS, then Run anyway. Only do this for the file you received from Teras AI.
- Accept the terms on first start. The Before you start window explains what stays on your PC. Tick the box to accept the Privacy notice and Terms of use, then click Continue.
- Connect a mailbox. Go to Settings → Mail accounts and connect Gmail, Outlook / Microsoft 365, or any IMAP mailbox.
- Tell Counsel about you and your work. In Profile, add your name, signature and writing style. In Knowledge, add a few notes about your business, services and clients. Pinned notes go into every draft.
- Write your first reply. Open an email, click Reply, say in a few words what the answer should say, and click Generate. Edit the draft or ask for changes, then press Send when you are happy with it. The AI features need an AI provider in Settings → AI drafting; Teras AI can set this up with you.
- Updates come in the app. When a new version is out, a card shows what is new. Click Update, then Restart now. See the release notes for what changed.
Closing the window keeps Counsel OS running in the system tray, so new mail and scheduled emails keep flowing. To quit, right-click the tray icon.
